Stephanie Sherman Named CMO of DraftKings Ahead of Super Bowl

Early employee Stephanie Sherman has been appointed CMO of DraftKings, just in time for the Super Bowl.

All marketing functions will be consolidated under Sherman’s leadership. In her new role, Sherman will continue to drive marketing, oversee brand and agency campaigns, media buying and influencer strategy. Sherman joined the company in 2013 as one of the company’s first 15 employees and has helped shape its marketing strategy as the company has grown to almost 900 employees.

“When I started at DraftKings nine years ago, there was a genuine and collective sense that we were building something special, and zooming out to today, that has been validated more than I could have ever imagined,” said Sherman, in a statement shared with Brand Innovators. “For all the accomplishments we’ve celebrated and adversity we’ve overcome, I take on this new position knowing there is still so much opportunity ahead along with brilliant people ready to deliver.”

In her previous role as senior vice president of marketing at DraftKings, Sherman was focused on customer acquisition and direct marketing. Over her tenure with the company, she has helped expand the business to include daily fantasy, sports betting, online casino to digital collectibles. Prior to joining DraftKings, Sherman managed acquisition marketing for Vistaprint.

The new appointment comes as the fantasy sports and online sports betting operator has confirmed to Brand Innovators that they will be airing a national, 30-second spot during the first quarter of the Super Bowl. The company made their Super Bowl debut last year with two :15 spots.
