loanDepot Names Alec Hanson CMO

Mortgage company loanDepot has elevated Alec Hanson to be the company’s chief marketing officer. Hanson, who has been with loanDepot since 2011, was most recently the company’s senior vice president of production for the West division. 

In his new position, Hanson will oversee the development of brand, digital marketing and organic and digital lead generation campaigns for the company, as well as differentiating loanDepot’s marketing engine as a competitive advantage for its loan-originator clients. Leading a consolidated marketing team, Hanson will also be responsible for the company’s originator-led field-level marketing capabilities. 

Hanson, who also hosts the “Modern Lending” podcast and “The Bright Side” digital newscast, will play a crucial role in advancing the company’s Vision 2025 strategic plan of driving purchase volume through an emphasis on first-time home buyers and those in diverse communities. With nearly two decades of industry experience, the company is counting on his expertise and social media savvy to differentiate itself in the mortgage-lending space.

Hanson is a native of Southern California and has a bachelor’s degree in business management and urban development from the University of California, Berkeley. He began working as a mortgage originator in 2004 and was named “Rookie of the Year” by Scotsman’s Guide. He has been named a Rising Star by HousingWire three times and is the author of “Bypassed: A Modern Guide for Local Mortgage Pros Left Behind by the Digital Customer.
