President, Business Operations, Philadelphia Flyers & Wells Fargo Center

Valerie directs all business activities for the NHL franchise and one of the country’s busiest arenas. Valerie sets the strategic direction for the team and arena, leading all revenue, marketing, operations, and administration (Finance, HR, Communications, etc.) functions.

Valerie was the first woman hired as President of a NHL franchise and is an Alternate member of the NHL’s Board of Governors. She also leads Spectator Events and Entertainment (SEE), the Philadelphia Wings of the National Lacrosse League, and the Maine Marines of the East Coast Hockey League.

Valerie is leading the $300M transformation of Wells Fargo Center—a multi-year redesign of the arena focused on delivering innovative technologies and guest experiences. She manages Comcast’s relationships with several key stakeholders including broadcast partners, key arena tenants, most notably the Philadelphia 76ers, concert promoters (such asLive Nation and AEG), and development partners such as the Cordish Companies. Currently, Comcast and Cordish are partnering to develop the Philadelphia sports complex into a world class entertainment district.

Camillo joined the Flyers from the Washington Nationals, where she was Chief Revenue and Marketing Officer from 2014-2018. During her tenure, she led the development and implementation of strategies to maximize commercial opportunities—leading to record growth for the franchise. She was responsible for all revenue generating functions of the team including corporate partnerships, licensing, ticket and suite sales, broadcasting, marketing,brand management, retail, food and beverage, and non-baseball events at Nationals Park. Camillo was a Senior Vice President in the NBA’s Team Marketing and Business Operations(TMBO) group. In this role, she provided strategic advisory services to multiple NBA teams with regards to revenue generation, marketing, analytics, technology and property development.

Camillo began her career in management consulting, working for 15 years as a business strategy, data analytics, and process improvement advisor. During her consulting career, Valerie worked for Price Waterhouse Coopers (PWC), IBM, and Booz Allen Hamilton leading a variety of commercial and Government projects.

Camillo received a B.S. in Commerce from the University of Virginia, and her M.B.A. from the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia. She is on the Board of Directors for Herschend Family Entertainment, one of the largest privately-held amusement park, event, and attraction companies in the United States.

She is active in the Greater Philadelphia community. Valerie is on the Board of the Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce and the Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation. She is a member of Young Presidents Organization (YPO) and sits on the Corporate Counsel of the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). Valerie resides in Philadelphia with her husband, Lawrence.
