Susan Machtiger is Executive Partner for Ogilvy Consulting, Ogilvy’s worldwide strategic consultancy, working with client C Suites on their toughest  strategic challenges. Susan leads the Purpose, Brand Strategy and Marketing Strategy Practice. She focuses on building powerful  brands by applying over 20 years of experience to the areas of  purpose, brand strategy, positioning, innovation and integrated marketing. Since joining Ogilvy Consulting, Susan has led major initiatives to instill new relevance in large global brands, as well as create distinctive new brands, along with the marketing plans needed to bring them to life. 

Susan has worked with C Suites globally across Asia, Europe, South America and the United States, with particular focus at the intersection of business, people and technology: building a global B2B platform for Samsung, Accenture, American Express, Philips, NRG Energy, Qualcomm, bringing Huawei in China to a global stage, leading Ford into the future of mobility, and innovating to reorient Coca Cola and Gerber for millennials and creating brand purpose for new crypto currency companies, Bitfury and Circle.

In 2016, Susan won the prestigious WPP Atticus Award in  Branding for her published RED Paper, “Brands That Do”. This  paper calls for a new approach to how we build purposeful brands, that has been picked up by major marketing journals, and translated to Mandarin. Susan has served as a judge for the WARC Jury Awards, and spoken on panels for IBM iX at Cannes Lions and on “Connected Cities” at the WPP Retail Symposium as well as being the Keynote speaker at the 12th Annual MAC Conference (Brand Success in a New Era.)

Susan has also worked in the hospitality space for IHG, the Prince’s Investment Trust of Saudi Arabia, and in financial services for UBS, Merrill Lynch and Citibank.

Prior to joining Ogilvy, Susan held senior strategic leadership roles with JWT, Y&R, and Landor. She also ran her own independent marketing consultancy. Susan has served on both public and private boards, including eight years as a board director of Atlantic Whitehall Funds (a unit of Invesco), Movement Mortgage and was cited by the NY State Assembly for service to her local community. Susan has a BSE in chemical  engineering from Princeton University and an MBA with concentrations in marketing and finance from Columbia University.

Born in Austria and fluent in Hungarian, she now makes New York City home base for her and her two grown children.
