Vice President, Brand, Marketing Strategy and Planning, Intuit
Stephen Root is the VP of Brand, Marketing Strategy and Planning at Intuit, overseeing all aspects of marketing the Intuit brand with a direct reporting relationship to the CMO.
Stephen joined Intuit in September 2009 after 14 years at Visa. While at Visa, Root held senior marketing positions in Brand Management, Strategic Planning, Partnership and Digital Product Marketing and Marketing Research and Insights as well as a Product Marketing role at ANZ bank while on secondment there. During his time at Visa he worked in Singapore and Melbourne, Australia.
Prior to Visa Root held positions with two marketing consulting firms, Sterling Brand Strategy and Prophet Brand Strategy, both based out of San Francisco, CA, where he consulted for such leading global companies as Chevron, Levi’s, AOL and HP. While with Prophet, Root spent 18 months in Zurich, Switzerland consulting for UBS Financial Services.
Root’s career also includes roles at the Investment Bank, Hambrecht & Quist as well as sales positions with Oracle and Xerox.
Root holds a Bachelor’s degree from Harvard College. His writings have been published in “Retail Banking International” and “Marketing Management” and he has been a guest lecturer at UC Berkeley Haas School of Business.
