Miss J. Alexander - Brand Innovators

Miss J. Alexander

As a former model, runway coach, author and television personality, J. Alexander, affectionately known as Miss J, is a cultural pioneer.  Having carved out his own lane to succeed in fashion, entertainment and business, Miss J. has become a glamorous fixture in model artistry, an inspiration to the LGBTQ community, and an innovative icon to fans worldwide.

Born and raised in the South Bronx, J. is the seventh of ten children born to parents Julius and Mary Jenkins.  J.’s passion for art and creativity was evident in his skillful ability to merge street and chic in his glamorously androgynous every day appearances.

J’s prolific fashion career began in the 1980s as a model before his legendary “runway walk” eventually earned him a coveted position as a 1990s global runway coach, where he helped guide the careers of hundreds of models and glamazons.  For more than twenty years, J.’s expertise has been instrumental in backstage productions and fashion shows for some of Europe’s most venerable fashion houses including Valentino, John Galliano, Nina Ricci, and Dior, just to name a few.  J. also lent his talents to some of America’s most lauded designers and brands, including a tenure position at the legendary hip hop label Baby Phat, where J. collaborated with uber model and businesswoman Kimora Lee Simmons and her then-husband, fashion mogul, Russell Simmons.

As an author and a television personality, J. won international acclaim in 2005 for his fashion flair after former protégé and supermodel Tyra Banks handpicked J. to co-star as a runway coach and judge on the popular reality series America’s Next Top Model (ANTM).  It is on this program where J. earned the moniker Miss J. and where audiences got a glimpse at J.’s over-the-top style.

Miss J. has made numerous and regular appearances on various American television shows including E!’s Fashion Police, Live with Regis & Kelly, Late Night with Conan O’Brien, and the Mo’nique Show, as well as on international versions of the Top Model franchise, such as Russia’s Next Top Model, Britain’s Next Top Model, Canada’s Next Top Model and Finland’s Next Top Model.  J was also a judge and producer of seasons 2 and 3 of I Supermodel, a Chinese television series and modeling competition that reached over 280 million views.

In 2009, Miss J. won a Teen Choice Award for the category of TV: Fab-u-lous.  He is the author of Follow the Model and is currently developing a documentary on his career.  Miss J. just launched his first collection of fashionable NFT’s “Miss J’s Crypto Couture” available at www.superpopdrop.com.
