CMO, Hard Rock Digital
John Koller is a senior level executive with significant marketing and general manager experience, including CMO at Hard Rock, CMO at Twitch/Amazon, and General Manager/VP Marketing at PlayStation. He has helped lead multiple global organizations through periods of massive growth, and expanded brands into numerous international territories with a focus on community, creator, brand, product and commerce. John is currently building and leading the global marketing organization for the largest sports/real money gaming hotel and casino brand in the world (Hard Rock). At Twitch (Amazon), he quintupled viewership (MAU/DAU) and hours watched in three years, created new business models, built the North American, EMEA, and APAC marketing organizations, and improved community and brand sentiment metrics across all measures. Prior to Twitch, he led marketing at Sony PlayStation for nearly 20 years as Vice President, Marketing, responsible for all aspects of the home console (PS4/PSVR), handhelds/mobile, peripherals, licensing, and digital gaming (digital distribution, membership/subscription service) businesses. He managed the launch of the highly successful PlayStation 4 in North America, which achieved the highest sales for a first day launch platform in gaming history, as well as the PlayStation VR platform, and created the brand strategy for the PlayStation 5. John co-founded Press Start Marketing, a full service video game industry consultancy, and has previously held key marketing positions at Electronic Arts, Anheuser-Busch and the San Francisco 49ers. He is the recipient of numerous awards, including Cannes Lions, multiple Clio and Effies awards, and the prestigious Brand Innovators Best 40 Marketers Under 40, while also teaching at graduate business schools and mentoring future leaders.
