Senior Director, Brand Management, Marriott International
Amani Brown is a highly experienced business, brand marketing, and sales leader with 20 years of success. Throughout her career, Amani has been recognized for transforming, innovating, and positioning global brands and operations for continuous competitive growth. She has worked for a variety of companies, including Marriott International, The Kellogg Company, Barilla, Hanesbrands Inc., and Mazda USA.
She was recruited in March of 2020 by Marriott International and is currently the Senior Director, Growth Initiatives on the Loyalty Marketing team. She and her team are responsible for the marketing of non-stay related programs, like Eat Around Town, which allows members to earn Marriott Bonvoy points off-property.
Prior to Marriott, Amani honed her skills in brand marketing and innovation working with iconic brands. Notable work includes “Would You L’Eggo Your Eggo?” brand refresh for Eggo frozen waffles; Kellogg’s 2016 Olympics activation, “What Gets You Started?,” and several product launches across Special K cereal, Barilla Pasta Sauce, and Barely There Panties, delivering significant sales and impressions lift as well as brand equity.
In addition to her day job, Amani also spends time focusing on organizational development. As her career has progressed, she has been asked to lead employee groups, establish programs, and mentor up and down, to help build and sustain strong, honest, and positive organizational culture.
Amani holds an MBA from the Booth School of Business at the University of Chicago and a BA in Japanese and English from the University of Michigan. Outside of work, when there is no pandemic, Amani can be found somewhere exploring the world, watching Michigan football, or hanging out with family and friends. During a pandemic, she can be found on her deck tending to her new garden.
