Join Brand Innovators & ViacomCBS for our State of the Industry series this week

2020 has turned the world upside down and the brands that are winning are focusing on innovation, leadership and purpose. This week Brand Innovators, in conjunction with ViacomCBS, is taking a look at the State of the Industry in three days of content featuring marketing leaders from across different sectors of the economy.

Brand Innovators’ State of the Industry Livecast Brand Love: Innovation, Leadership and Purpose on Tuesday, Oct. 6, will feature leading marketers speaking about innovation, leadership and purpose. Fernando Machado, Global Chief Marketing Officer at Restaurant Brands International (Burger King, Popeyes and Tim Hortons) will give a fireside chat about how the brand has pivoted this year.

“If I want to get noticed I need to do bold things,” said Fernando Machado, global CMO of Restaurant Brands International (Burger King, Popeyes and Tim Hortons), in our CMO of the Week column). “But that requires having clarity on the strategy, on the brand, on the metrics to show you’re making progress, and then you have to try and keep trying. You also need to make the whole company feel comfortable with the risks you’re taking creatively.”

Alyssa Raine, Group Vice President, Customer Marketing Platforms, Walgreens; Steve Greig, Vice President, Global Marketing, Visa and Elle McCarthy, Head of Brand, Electronic Arts (EA) will also share how their companies are innovating, leading and working with purpose to not only survive 2020, but to thrive.

Surbhi Martin, VP Marketing, Danone will talk about how the CPG company’s new Two Good yogurt brand is already winning accolades for its innovation and purpose-driven initiatives.

“For every cup of yogurt you purchase, we will donate an equal amount of food to someone in need with our City Harvest and We Don’t Waste partners,” said Martin in our Innovators Series. “This one-for-one initiative was really born of that idea of how do we explain and connect the dots for consumers between the food waste problem in this country and the rising food insecurity and the hunger problems we face in this country.”

Just as purpose-driven initiatives are driving headlines this year, so too has consumer media consumption. As people are spending more time at home streaming content and logging into connected devices, advertisers are adapting to new behaviors and what the new baseline will look like.

On Wednesday, Oct. 7, learn about the Future of Media & Marketing Innovation. ViacomCBS executives Hawa Arsala, Director, Velocity Creative Strategy & Cultural Intelligence, ViacomCBS; Arielle Russo, Coordinator, Velocity Creative Strategy & Cultural Intelligence, ViacomCBS; and Lydia Daly, SVP, Velocity Creative Strategy & Cultural Intelligence, ViacomCBS will kick off the event that will give viewers insights into the quickly changing media landscape.

Another key learning from 2020 is that consumers want brands to support anti-racists causes and to show diversity and inclusion within their organizations. On Thursday Oct. 8, Brand Innovators’ Diversity & Inclusion event will feature executives from leading brands about how they are creating more inclusive marketing programs and workplaces.

Speakers include: Alexis Kerr, Head of Multicultural Marketing | Multicultural Strategy, Content and Execution, Cadillac; Alia Kemet, Vice President, Creative & Digital Communications, McCormick & Company; Mita Mallick, Head of Diversity and Cross-Cultural Marketing, Unilever; Adrianne Smith, Global Director of Inclusion and Diversity, WPP; Yasmin Grant, Director of Multicultural Marketing, PepsiCo; and Lizz Langer, Senior Manager, Brand Marketing Localization, Reebok.
