Yunmai, the Chinese maker of high-powered massage guns, has enlisted a cadre of world-class athletes to promote its brand and products.

The newly announced #YunmaiAthletes include Ansu Fati, footballer for FC Barcelona; Badminton player Viktor Axelsen, who has won two Olympic medals; three-time Olympic bobsled medalist Kaillie Humphries, and Canadian streetball player Joey Haywood.

The brand will feature the athletes in marketing materials supporting Yunmai’s portable muscle recovery platforms. Yunmai also makes smart scales and smart jump ropes, which are sold in more than 115 countries around the world.

In April 2021, the brand signed Fati, known as the “New No. 10” after inheriting Lionel Messi’s jersey at FC Barcelona, as its first global brand ambassador.

The massage gun market is expected to top more than $500 million in revenue this year and will double in size by 2032, according to Future Market Insights. Though gaining in popularity, the category is wide open when it comes to brand loyalty and affinity, according to the firm.

“Massage gun manufacturers are adopting consumer-centric approaches to improve their brand image and sales,” according to an FMI release. “It is imperative for companies to build a strong brand portfolio and strengthen their presence across multiple channels.”
