Aeropostale Enters the Metaverse

Fashion retailer Aeropostale is making its way into the metaverse, offering immersive shopping, socializing and gaming experiences that will involve NFTs, members-only perks and promotions and the giving away of 10 Teslas.

The new “AeroWorld,” developed in partnership with MetaversePlus, will launch on March 23, with the launch of AeroPax, a collection of NFTs. The NFTs will give owners exclusive perks to AeroWorld, including access to limited-edition apparel and VIP promotions. (AeroPax purchases will also include a limited-edition hoodie.)

The collection of 30,000 AeroPax avatars will depict different traits, styles, personalities, abilities and perks, such as a chance to be featured on one of the brand’s digital channels. The AeroPax will serve as the user’s digital, interactive avatar and act as their digital access passes into the virtual worlds, including AeroWorld, which will roll out later this spring.

AeroWorld will give users access to virtual and real-life experiences, including events and games, in-game points redeemable for AeroPax merchandise and other VIP perks. Details of the subsequent phases have not been released.

As part of the launch, Aeropostale will give 10 fans – chosen at random and with no purchase necessary – a chance to win a Tesla.

“We’re excited to build an immersive and interactive experience for Aéropostale fans and anyone who craves individuality,”  said Noah Loul, co-founder of MetaversePlus, in a release. “AeroPax is unique in that we’re creating an experience free from real-world limitations and societal standards, where people can be their most authentic selves and join forces with like-minded individuals anywhere, using NFTs and virtual experiences.”
